quote: benefits of philosophy
A philosopher knows exactly what to do in any situation, until it happens to him.
I guess this rather stunning quote conveys more or less the same point as this story from the Mahabharata 🙂
Allthough philosophy is something I may indulge in as an occasional hobby once in a way, I really hope I don’t end up becoming a philosopher, atleast according to the commonly known meaning associated with it: as one who keeps on speculating endlessly about something or the other and comes up with different ideas of whats right and wrong and so on. The only meaning I might come close to subscribing to is to question fundamental assumptions or beliefs instead of taking everything for granted.
Most of what I’ve written in this blog have been things that have just occurred to me (being a speed typist helps). And mostly based on actual experiences, rather than any effort where I sometime decide “let me write about <this particular thing> today, hmm what shall I write… [think think think] 🙄 ”
This way, I also don’t feel compelled that I have to write something just because I haven’t written for a long time, because whenever I explicitly try to write about <any particular thing> it usually ended up being a waste of time 😕 …not that it isn’t otherwise 😉 …but just relatively speaking…
