A press meet and a gathering of Kannada Wikipedians (online for almost
2 years now) and all those who take interest in Kannada on the internet
will be held on Sunday, April 2nd, 2006, at
Nayana Auditorium, J C Road at 4 PM. There will be talks and
assistance to people on how to use Unicode, how to enable it on your system to
how to use and contribute to a Wiki.

 
You’re welcome to participate in it and take part in what can probably be
the best service to do for Kannada language to grow on the internet.

Tentative Agenda

 

First session

    • Press conference: – Covering the Kannada Wikipedia, Wikimedia
      foundation, GFDL, Mediawiki, Wiki technology, Kannada Wikipedia milestone
      1000 articles, focusing primarily on the local Kannada Language and English
      Language media. (approx 30 minutes)
    • Break: Coffee/Tea break
 

Second session

    • Talk 1: Keynote – by Dr. U
      R Ananthmurthy       (en).
    • Talk 2: Indic, Unicode – what, why and how. (30 minutes)
    • Break: Snacks (20 minutes)
 

Third session

    • Talk 2: Enabling Indic – Unicode on your system. (30 minutes)
    • Talk 3: Mediawiki Usage for larger collaborations. (30 minutes)
    • Talk 4: User Experience on Wikipedia. (20 minutes)
 

Fourth Session

    • Informal discussion: future road map, on getting more people
      involved and misc.
