digitally tagging height

When I was a kid and used to grow vertically I used to stand straight against a wall where my Dad had drawn a vertical line. He’d hold a ruler above my head to mark it with a dash and write the date inspite of my mom’s complaints about not dirtying the wall. So later on I’d get an idea on how much I’d grown over time! (Incidentally, though I was one of the shortest guys almost always standing first in most height-ordered lines  I did eventually manage to crawl a few inches higher above ground level after some basketball and swimming).

Recently came across an entry in Leonid’s blog which is actually a very cool way of digitally tagging height – all that’s missing is some kind of a timestamp in the picture as well 🙂 (maybe a calendar clock 😉 )

I have observed that people studying/working together in any college/establishment, usually group together based on some criteria or the other… maybe caste (sometimes even sub-sub-caste) or language or region or habits (smoker/drinker) or maybe project, etc. This is perfectly fine and only natural; but the only problem is that in many cases, they are open…

  1. Hey, my parents also used to mark my height, but on the back of a wooden door 🙂 Unfortunately, we moved, and the records of my growth are lost forever 🙁
