life's maxim upgraded | ಜೀವನದ ತತ್ವ

When someone is reading a book, I’ve this habit of borrowing for a second and flipping through it and returning it. In one such instance a few years ago, I’d come across a “serene prayer” of three lines. I was so impressed that I later on googled for the exact words and put them down somewhere…

Serene Prayer

Give us courage to change what we can;
the patience to accept what we cannot change;
and the wisdom to know the difference.

So basically I’ve gone with it for quite a while so far. Though I usually find it convenient to put most things into the second category 😉 once in a way I try and put them (esp myself) into the first category as well.

Recently, Nipun suggested an upgraded version of the same prayer. No idea how long the upgrade process will take on me, but I kind of liked the idea:

Give us courage to be the change we wish to see;
the humility to accept our role in that we cannot change;
and the wisdom to keep serving without any expectations.

    Recently I came across an article about a Police Inspector, who had received quite a few medals in his name from his office, had a family – wife and kids, and a nice big house. obituary of Sanjay

    Bangalore — Sanjay Mysoremutt, 36, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Bangalore. He leaves among others, his almost 4 year old jovial son, his affectionate wife, his caring mother and sister, family around the globe and many wonderful friends. He was, arguably not to an unreasonable extent, a gluttonous, slothful, inconsiderate, indifferent, professionally complacent, hypocritical,…

  • My RSI Story

    I’m write this as a record [approximate, based on old memories], of my RSI and all its consequences. If anybody already has the problem, then hopefully this should help. I think after all my research, I have many solutions! I know many people for whom this has occurred and dissapeared never to appear again. So its not necessary that any of this applies to you. But the solutions are good fun anyway, none of them involve any injections or bitter pills 😉

  • some poetry

    I’m not really one for poetry but came across some that I quite liked. Any more of your own… you’re welcome to post it here (even in HTML if you like). One was in a comment that someone had left on Nipun’s site on the day he was about to leave for his trip to…

  1. While I am not a big fan of the previous version of the prayer, I greatly like the upgraded version.
    The first line is a version of a M. Gandhi’s quote, the second and third sum up the sensible pessimist’s views on life.
    Love it!
