Beginning with the long-time ambition of relearning (through writing) Kannada. Though its the language of the place I live in and also my native language, I’ve unfortunately ended up being out of touch with it (like most other “modern” Kannadigas) except through informal conversation! Well its never too late, I hope to start in bits and pieces for now on an experimental basis, before eventually becoming more active on the sampada portal.
A lot of my other countrymen would argue that this excercise is totally unnecessary when we can do just fine with English, but for a variety of reasons and mainly just my gut feeling – getting back in touch with it is something I’d like to do 🙂

It’s interesting what you write about your urge to learn your “mother tongue.” I have experienced the same thing about mine, which happens to be Gaelic. It is as if there is an fine, indelible cord which pulls me back to the land and language that my family left so many years ago.
Nice to see you enjoying writing in Kannada. I felt the same when I started writing blog in Kannada. We can express our say by choosing right words.
Yes, Sampada helped me too in this. Kudos to Sampada!
thats very interesting michael! looks like its a global trend…
