Build up your faith so that in times you will not be shaken

This was a quote from a friend, and it was nice to read it – but in my opinion, faith “gets built” up, one cannot actively build it. If one actively tries to build it, it may end up becoming disillusionment.

For example, consider a person having great faith in some religious diety. Then one day some big problem occurs, and the person prays fervently to the diety and has full faith that the problem will get solved. But lets say the problem still dosen’t get solved.

What I’ve seen in several real life situations is that the person eventually loses faith and may develop a blind cynicism to everything, or maybe change to another diety, or feel guilty that his faith wasn’t really true so try even more actively to build it.

I believe real faith is when the person knows that even the problem not getting solved, even after the best of efforts, was for the greater good. Complete unconditional acceptance of the current situation in the current moment. Such deep faith simply happens after a person completely abandons all pre-conceived notions or expectations associated with faith.

Guri couldn’t have put it in better words when she writes about real freedom

I can feel that there is something much bigger looking after me almost like a mother – protecting and guiding me. I feel like I’ve been this arrogant child, not giving it much credence, but yet it’s been there every step of the way. I KNOW that nothing will happen today. Even if it does, it doesn’t matter.
