nothing much to say

Though many friends have encouraged me to keep writing, I doubt how many people regularly read this site. Anyway assuming that there might be some, you might’ve noticed the slow updates to this site so I’m giving an explanation…

Unfortunately the bane of writing is that the writer might inadvertently end up creating a nice polished image of himself through his words 🙂 Still I like to write so I’m writing, but I realised there’s no escape so put my website name as “a common man” so that its always a reminder to me atleast if not anybody else! 😉

One common impression is that I seem to be a very well read chap. I’m definitely not a very well read chap, I just read some bits here and there 🙂

Another common impression about me (that a friend shared with me and I quickly clarified) is that it looks like I have absolute clarity on everything and have a hold on everything I’m doing. Well however nice that may sound, this is incorrect as well, I go through the same kind of confusion, uncertainity, etc like most other people. (I used to think long ago it was only me… but I’m know better now that its a common situation, part of anyone’s life, and in fact such things are what makes me “me” and I feel more responsible for dealing with them properly).

I’m going through a rather hectic time right now – nothing major but just the same old usual mess like too much of responsibilities at work and too much of time to travel to and from office, not getting enough time to spend with family and friends and other things that matter to me, and stuff like that. Sometimes I take them as challenges and sometimes I get bogged down 🙂 Maybe it all comes down to not being disciplined and organised enough – I’ve never been that way all my life so those who have been, this whole thing of getting overwhelmed with too many things at the same time might sound very silly

An author of some personality development books might suggest to me “accept yourself as you are, etc” but that’s not the point at all. I consider myself the luckiest and highly succesful (according to my own standards 😉 though not that much according to conventional ones)man on the planet, am extremely grateful for everything that I have, and am perfectly happy with my situation in the great scheme of things. Just that I feel like going offline for a while to catch up with some other issues I’ve procrastinated for quite a bit and to try and get to be a bit more organised and committed.

Commitment is quite a crucial thing… Gandhi had said something one the lines of happiness being when thoughts, words and actions coincide… And esp nowadays I feel a bit unhappy because a bit of mismatch is fine but there’s a bit too much of mismatch between my actions and my thoughts/ideas. I feel I need to change some things about myself in order to be able to afford to more happily spend time and energy in writing regularly again.

Btw another thing some friends had told me a while ago… that everything that’s to be said has already been told by someone or the other – just do a google search and you’ll find it – so why write anything more. I do get the feeling once in aa way that I have nothing more to say (or maybe its just laziness 😉 )

So I may randomly write occasionally or post some links, may answer to comments, but for a couple of months or so (no timeline planned as such) this site will be more or less inactive.

One thing I know with absolute certainity, is the impermanence of such phases… they’re on and off just like waves on the ocean 🙂

We lived in a joint family, and all my cousins – though they’re all settled abroad (mostly US) now, are like my own brothers and sisters, and our bond has remained intact over time. Was awakened to the news on Saturday that my cousin brother Dinesh, hardly 41 – has expired in a fatal car…

    different colors for different situations

Having known you in person, I think I don’t hold the many of impressions that you gracefully clarified. 🙂

Perhaps if you post some rants on the blog to justify the common man 😉

  5. Sanjay,

I open your blog by default once a day . I had mentioned it sometime earlier too … The variety of subjects that you touch upon makes it a very interting reading. And many many times this triggers my thought process about that subject, which otherwise I would not have even thought of.

Keep writing . I am sure it inspires a lot of people .

    Regards,
    Anitha.
