There’s a lovely Kannada song “ille swarga ille naraka, berenilla suLLu” (right here is heaven, right here is hell, anything else is a lie) …and one can really experience that in Malleswaram 8th Cross esp during any festival season.

Sanjay,

I was thinking in fact, when I did my Deepavali shopping on 8th Cross, that the images of 8th Cross preceding a festival must be frozen for posterity, what with yuppie crowds thronging malls and departmental stores. The future generations would never undergo the real experience of shopping, buying in malls or supermarkets.

I guess real fun in shopping is only possible on streets like 8th Cross and no where else. No AC or no hi-fi shops can match the ambience of that single stretch of shops.

Sanjay classy pics. From the Margosa Road to the Sampige Road the 8th Cros Road is always Buzzing during festivals. I remember when we used to come to Blr for vacations then my thatha used to take us round from MVM Circle, KC General Hosp and Down the 8th cross road(from Margosa Rd) finally to the Janatha Hotel where he used to get us Rave Idli and take parcels for other people at home too.
