I was saying earlier that I’ve lived in just one single house all my life. At that time I’d not really imagined that that wouldn’t be for very long!
We are finally executing the long long pending plan of my mother’s generation in rebuilding the house from scratch, to replace it with something new, modern and sophisticated!
Its an exciting project where the whole family can look forward to a more comfortable residence.
Kind of sad to see it going down though, considering so many countless memories of having lived in it! A part of Madonna song’s lyrics seem to fit here…
This used to be my playground (used to be)
This used to be our pride and joy
This used to be the place we ran to
That no one in the world could dare destroy
At the same time, do we get too caught up in the rebuilding of houses? Well, this man Gautama Buddha had done pretty much the same as well, though at one point he finally destroyed it to never rebuild it again! 8) And then he declared…
For countless births have I passed through this cycle of births and deaths, seeking the builder of this house, but in vain. Sorrowful indeed is this cyclic repetition of births.
O builder of the house, I have seen you; you shall not build the house again. All the rafters are broken; the ridgepole is shattered! My mind is free from all impurities, having attained the extinction of all cravings!
