change in title

Since the blog has rather unexpectedly taken off as an interactive medium I decided to change the title after R K Laxman‘s cartoon character  If at all inspite of the total lack of planning my name by some improbable chance ends up becoming famous, let it be because of something I do rather than something I write 😀

  1. hmm when I meet someone and they want to note down my email id, I sometimes say “just google for my name, either m sanjay or sanjay m” …since this site had for some strange reason ended up being the first among over 3 million hits. I wonder if it’ll still work after this title change. Afaik the title is one of the key things that google uses for page ranking 🙂

  3. Tavishri said it right Sanjay. It is no exaggeration that yours is the best BLOG that I have come across. Both the content & presentation are very good. Nimma ondondu post kooda naavu adara bagge nidhanavagi yochiso hage maduthe.

Infact I wanted to request you to have a separate thread , based on your learnings from Vipassana. So that it triggers our thought process.

  4. thanks very much Anitha, I’m really honored 😀

Well I’m only a novice in Vipassana (pronounced Vipasyana in Indian languages) and I’ve already spoken a lot about it… maybe too much 😉 (just search using the box above). Not that its some big secret but the only thing is a fellow who’s just learnt a little bit speaks about it and may lead other people astray from it. Its important to note that the name “Vipassana” is not so important, the process is the same even if someone calls it by some other name and someone else says that they don’t meditate at all 🙂 Anyway instead of a seperate thread I’ll post updates to the earlier post and so if anyone who is interested by themselves can read about it there.

  5. 🙂
Everytime I open this page and see “common man”, I think I have to come here and comment that actually the name is not too good for this blog 😉
Finally I came here, and see that others have already said what I wanted to say 🙂
Ok, ok, you might be a common man, but you have uncommon interests, and a very interesting and uncommon blog! Like Anitha says, one of the best – the layout, the subjects, and the effort you take to provide information and links, and keep it up-to-date and user-friendly – it is remarkable.

  6. Wow Shruthi, I’ve been a passive intermittent reader of your blog, and found it as one of the best most insightful value-adding ones. Not only that, among the most popular ones as well going by the number of comments you get for each post! 😀 So coming from you this is quite a compliment (deserved or not!!) – many thanks! 🙂

Hmm… I remember when I was playing table tennis in my school days, every time I hit a really good shot or hit a really tricky return, I would continue playing well… but if someone happened to shout “good one!” then that’s the end of it, next five points are gone!

Compliments are quite devastating for me, I think I’m not yet sensible enough to handle it well… 😀 But on the other hand they’re kind of an acknowledgement that I seem to have done something useful [for a change 😉 ]

Blogging has ended up becoming quite time and energy conuming, hence the slow down in posts off late, but I’ll try to keep going…

  7. Ha ha :))) The table tennis analogy is too good! 😉 Ok ok no more compliments, just keep blogging, thats all 🙂

And thanks a ton for your compliments.. and seriously, I feel like saying the same thing – coming from you, its a huge compliment 😉

  8. sanjay,
as i told u over phone, i am a die-hard fan of Laxman. and the fact that u have named ur site after his famous creation is very apt(after i heard u) and after reading ur articles.

  9. RK Laxman is Air Deccan’s brand ambassador. His immortal character `The Common Man’ is the airlines’ mascot. Air Deccan might have sought to position itself as a common man’s airline by choosing the cartoonist’s most loved character!
