UG has moved on

Now that all the hype of cricket players who are considered to be representing our country by many modern patriots has died down a little bit, maybe readers are in a bit more receptive mode to one of the many true heros of our country (without any ads 😉 )

Particularly note this comment by Chandrasekhar, whom I’m guessing is probably UG’s friend in Bangalore, whose house he lived with while he was here…

UG is often referred as “the GURU in reverse”
His implicit teaching is revealed when the word GURU is reversed and read aloud.

At first it didn’t make sense at all – after all what kind of abstract nonsense does “urug” supposed to mean, and I just forgot about it. Suddenly a couple of days later when I wasn’t even bothered about it, it just struck me as not a word but individual letters and made tremendous sense! And of course, there had never been any doubt about it. Because if all that UG says is about himself, then he’d have been just another character – either interesting or eccentric depending on one’s inclination or receptivity.

But his words are really important, because they’re not talking about just himself – its also about ME.

His biggest influence on me is that I find tremendous encouragement from him in reducing the level of hypocrisy with which I live. Tearing off all my masks and trying to be more genuine, though unknowingly I keep on making up new ones for myself or changing the shape of one mask to the other, conning myself into assuming I’ve gotten rid of it!

If you liked any of his quotes, and only if they really made any significant difference to your life, it would be great if you could share them here.

he’s not talking about you, you are him, he’s nothing special, just like you and me, there is nothing there. dogs barking.
he’s words struck like lightning. but did they reach us?

hey ikuru thanks for your notes.

Well, as he’s talking about himself, and I am him, so I said he’s talking about me 🙂 esp because I can personally relate to a lot of things he said.

I wish there was some way to find out how much his words have really reached me, or how much I’ve unknowingly misinterpreted his words according to my own biased thinking!

btw the art work on your site is fantastic!

I too can relate to the things he said, I really, really like him, but then I have to forget him and get on with my life.

If we turn the pages of histoey, time and again striking masters are coming on this earth just to remind us as a friend ‘to live our own LIFE’! And we start worshipping them and thereby we not only miss the ship of our own LIFE, but end up burrying those guys in dead glorified debris. It’s painful to ask “How many remindes do we need to heed our own LIFE”?
Hey may your “fire” live in my daily life, in the daily life of humanity!

dear sulochanosho, completely concur with you… I feel this is probably what is portrayed in this story by Richard Bach… – they have simply let go of clinging, and that is all we need to learn. Thanks and I hope we all become lesser and lesser dependent of reminders! 8)
