my first tag: what does blogging mean to me?

Well this is the first one that I’m following up on… as in general I’m not all that enthusiastic about tags. But since I was here in Poona with net access, somehow managed to not procrastinate this one.

Q1. Are you happy/ satisfied with your blog, with its content and
look?

Hmm… often I feel it needs
a lot of cleanup, other times I feel like writing a lot more… so… answer is
more or less 🙂

Q2. Does your family know about your blog?

Yes. And the good thing is that apart from occasional appreciation they’re all pretty cynical about it and this helps as a brake from overdoing it! (Proably because I’ve annoyed them enough whenever I’ve gotten obsessed about finishing some post before I do something else more important! 👿 ) A really funny thing is my wife said she probably wouldn’t have married me if she’d seen my blog site first 😆 Maybe my writing makes me look like a majorly philosophical fellow. It probably would’ve been philosophical if I’d written based on speculation, but I’ve always tried to limit it based on actual experience.

Also at work, my team mates, manager, his manager, and his manager and a
good number of colleagues. It’s easier in office esp. when I’ve been practicing
to a reasonable extent my ideas expressed on RwB:
Work is an opportunity and recently even earned a lot of
customer appreciation including a Peer Excellence award – nobody has had much
to complain about 😎

But hardly any family/colleague visits it except if on some occasions I spam
them with a URL

Q3. Do you feel embarrassed to let your friends know about your blog or
you just consider it as a private thing?

My blog is my love letter for the world, and jab pyaar kiya to darna kya!
Having said that, I must add that my love is quite situational
and flimsy and could certainly do with a lot more commitment. And the
best place to practice and strengthen it is with my family, friends and
colleagues, and every now and then I venture out beyond this known circle!

Q4. Did blogs cause positive changes in your thoughts?

Yes, one of the main implications being that I feel really close to many
people as if they’re my own family members (even though I may not have
expressed always), developing deeper respect and appreciation for other’s
viewpoints and freedom when they’re different from my own.

Q5. Do you only open the blogs of those who comment on your blog or you
love to go and discover more by yourself?

Mostly yes, because it takes too much bandwidth more than what I can afford to
keep going recursively 😉 Also if I find some comments that I really like or
relate to in any one else’s blog, then I visit their pages as well.

Q6. What does visitors counter mean to you? Do you care about putting
it in your blog?

They did at first, I got elated at the huge number of
hits (though I tried to be modest about it). Then when I realized that most of
those hits were search bots, I realized what an idiot I was and now I just have
google analytics set up which I hardly visit once in
a way out of curiosity.

Q7. Did you try to imagine your fellow bloggers and give them real
pictures?

Yeah sort of, but try not to give too much importance and remember its just my imagination.

Q8. Do you think there is a real benefit for blogging?

Yes – I believe it has greatly enhanced open communication in our world.

Q9. Do you think that bloggers’ society is isolated from real world or
interacts with events?

Yes to a large extent! The computer world is merely virtual. I for one have a
tendency to get carried away by writing and sometimes inadvertently present a
very nice picture of myself, but which is only partial truth, just to
please others. See answer to "Does
your family know about your blog?" – I’m probably more
interesting (relatively) in writing – than in person. In person as anyone would acknowledge I’m probably a sort of boring chap
most of the time 🙄 However I do try more and more to match my words by my
experience and truth, and can only hope that I’m succeeding (its hard to know).

Q10. Does criticism annoy you or do you feel it’s a normal thing?

I welcome criticism as I usually find it quite helpful, but unfortunately most
readers while they’ve been generous with positive words, have been very conjuus (stingy) with their criticism so far heh heh! Try to receive with open
mind, whether its serious or just taking liberty of
making fun of me 😛

Q11. Do you fear some political blogs and avoid them?

Not seen any political blogs for Indian context but I’ll definitely visit
ragimudde.devegowda.com if the site gets launched 😉

Q12. Did you get shocked by the arrest of some bloggers?

Oh… who? 😯 Anyway I heard of some blogger who got fired from his job and things
like that, and I feel its just some ad-hoc incident. Publicly writing requires
some responsibility, and if in spite of honoring that responsibility something
bad happens then one just has to face it boldly!

Q13. Did you think about what will happen to your blog after you die?

I write on my website mainly
because I enjoy writing right now. But in my immodest opinion these notes may also be like clues/footprints of an explorer – for future
generations of like-minded pathless explorers of life 😎

Q14. What do you like to hear? What’s the song you might like to put a
link to, in your blog?

Probably my all time favorite songs is one from the Kannada movie Jeevana Chaitra named naadamaya where the lyrics are just so beautiful that I don’t dare to attempt to translate, and the melody of the song and the voice of the singer Dr. Rajkumar is nothing short of absolutely rivetting.
